Two-stage hydraulically driven gas booster for high-pressure requirements

Gas pressure intensification at large pressure differentials

A two-stage hydraulically driven gas booster is used when the gas pressure needs to be significantly increased and when the difference between the inlet and outlet pressure is large. By dividing the pressure increase into two stages, the process can be carried out more in a controlled manner and with higher efficiency compared to a single-stage solution.

Hydmos Industriteknik offers two-stage hydraulically driven gas boosters from Haskel for environments where high final pressures, stable operation, and a long service life are essential.

Step-by-step pressure build-up in a two-stage gas booster

In a two-stage hydraulically driven gas booster, the pressure increase occurs in stages. The first stage raises the gas pressure to an intermediate level before the second stage takes over and raises the gas pressure to the desired final pressure. This division provides smoother operation and reduces component wear.

Control in both stages

The hydraulic drive provides precise control over the movement in both stages, contributing to a stable outlet pressure and high repeatability even under varying operating conditions.

High-precision gas pressure regulation

Hydraulic drive and pressure control in gas boosters

Pressure control in a hydraulically driven gas booster is achieved by regulating the hydraulic drive pressure. By adjusting the drive pressure, the gas pressure can be controlled with high precision, making it possible to adapt both capacity and final pressure to process requirements.

By controlling the hydraulic drive pressure, the gas pressure can be regulated with high precision, providing excellent control over both capacity and final pressure.

Gas boosters with triple seals

Engineered for demanding pressure levels

Two-stage hydraulically driven gas boosters are designed to handle high pressure levels in demanding environments. The robust design is engineered for a long service life with minimal maintenance requirements.

Please note that the inlet pressure must be at least approx. 7 bar, as the gas piston is not rigidly attached to the piston rod. The incoming gas pushes the piston back against the piston rod. This allows the piston to more easily center itself within the gas barrel, thereby minimizing seal wear.

The separation between the drive section and the gas section is based on the same principle as air-driven gas boosters. There are three seals between the hydraulic system and the gas, with the two intermediate spaces vented to the atmosphere. This is particularly important in applications where gas purity or process safety is critical.

Temperature control at high pressures

High-pressure conditions generate increased heat. Consequently, two-stage hydraulically driven gas boosters are equipped with an additional external cooler between the first and second stages. This contributes to a longer service life for seals and other components.

For various gas applications

The gas boosters can be used with a wide range of gases. Applications involving gases with specific requirements, such as oxygen or hydrogen, demand customized materials and safety solutions.
