The greater the ratio between the inlet pressure and the outlet pressure, the more stages are required. A single-stage pressure booster handles a ratio of up to approximately 1:25, and a two-stage booster handles about 1:100.
Seal between drive air and pumped gas
Haskel's pressure boosters feature a seal between the drive air and the pumped air (gas). Should this seal begin to leak, the pumped air (gas) will enter the drive section and subsequently exit through the drive air silencer.
Cooling of pressure boosters
Cooling of the pressure boosters is also relatively straightforward; the exhausted drive air is directed through a silencer aimed at the high-pressure section, thereby cooling it. The two-stage pressure boosters have no interstage cooling other than the cooling that occurs as the air (gas) passes through the connecting pipe between the two stages.
