A two-stage pressure booster is used when the difference between the inlet and outlet pressure is too great for a single-stage pressure booster to suffice. By dividing the pressure increase into two stages, higher pressure ratios can be achieved in a controlled manner.
At HYDMOS Industriteknik, we offer two-stage pressure boosters from Haskel for applications where high final pressure and stable operation are critical.
In a two-stage pressure booster, the pressure is first raised in an initial stage and subsequently in a second stage. This allows each stage to operate within a more restricted pressure-increase range, resulting in higher efficiency per stage than if the same final pressure were generated in a single stage.
The two-stage solution is normally used when the pressure ratio needs to exceed approximately 1:25, and it can achieve pressure ratios around 1:100. For even higher pressure-boosting ratios, additional pressure boosters are employed.
High Outlet Pressure and Flow Requirements
A two-stage pressure booster is a good choice when the inlet pressure is low but a high outlet pressure is required in the process. For more limited pressure increases, a single-stage pressure booster may be sufficient.
For higher flow requirements, the design is customized to ensure stable operation and smooth gas transport, typically by matching the pump geometry and drive conditions to the required gas flow.
Safety & Control
The pressure boosters feature a seal between the drive air and the pumped air or gas. Should the seal begin to leak, the pumped air or gas is directed into the drive section and out through the drive air silencer. Consequently, pressure amplifiers should only be used if the pumped gas is permitted to escape into the atmosphere.
This solution provides precise control and contributes to safe system operation.
Cooling is achieved by routing the exhausted drive air through a silencer directed toward the high-pressure section. For two-stage pressure boosters, there is no separate cooling between the stages other than the cooling that occurs as the air or gas passes between them.
This is a simple and proven solution that performs exceptionally well in two-stage pressure amplification.
The gas boosters are primarily designed for pumping air, but can also be used for other gases. They must not be used for oxygen.
In each stage, the pressure amplifier can handle an inlet pressure equal to the outlet pressure, providing flexibility when integrating into various systems.
Pressure boosters for your requirements
Two-stage pressure boosters are available in multiple configurations and can be delivered with various modifications, such as for operation with low drive pressures, external start and stop, or cycle counters.
The model code indicates the pump type and pressure ratio, and each unit features a unique serial number indicating the month and year of manufacture.
