These boosters must be mounted horizontally. The separation between the drive section and the gas section is based on the same philosophy as the air-driven units, i.e., three seals between the drive and the gas with atmospheric venting in the two intermediate spaces.
The operating principle is also identical to that of the air-driven units, featuring a slow-moving reciprocating piston with check valves that open and close.
An important difference, however, is that the switching function is not built-in. HYDMOS designs hydraulic and control systems tailored for these boosters.
Cooling of the gas in these boosters is also achieved by means of a jacketed tube surrounding the gas section. The cooling medium can be the hydraulic fluid or another liquid.
