Single-stage air-driven gas booster for industrial pressure intensification

Air-driven gas boosters from HYDMOS

HYDMOS Industriteknik offers air-driven gas boosters for applications where gas pressure needs to be increased in a controlled manner. A single-stage air-driven gas booster is an efficient solution when the pressure increase is moderate and the process places high demands on stable operation.

Our gas boosters are based on proven technology and are used in industrial environments where safe separation between drive air and gas is essential.

When a single-stage gas booster is the right choice

A single-stage gas booster is used when the ratio between incoming and outgoing pressure is relatively limited. This type of gas booster normally handles pressure ratios up to approximately 1:25, making it suitable for many industrial applications.

Without unnecessary complexity

The single-stage solution is particularly well-suited for systems where the pressure increase requirements are clear, but where unnecessary equipment complexity is to be avoided. It is also advantageous to combine single-stage boosters with each other or with two-stage air-driven gas boosters when necessary to handle large differences between inlet and outlet pressures.

For various flow capacities

Single-acting and double-acting single-stage boosters

Single-stage air-driven gas boosters from Haskel are available in both single-acting and double-acting designs. The choice of design primarily affects flow capacity and how efficiently the booster operates within the application.

A single-acting gas booster means that the piston pumps the gas only during the forward stroke. This yields a lower flow, but the design is simpler and maintenance is limited. Single-acting boosters are excellent when flow requirements are moderate.

A double-acting gas booster means that the piston pumps the gas on both the forward and return strokes, resulting in a smoother flow and higher capacity. This type is recommended for higher flow requirements or when the process demands constant pressure. The outgoing pressure from a double-acting booster is affected by the incoming gas pressure.

The choice between single-acting and double-acting designs thus affects both capacity and process stability, without altering the maximum pressure ratio of the single-stage booster.

Long service life and low maintenance

Simple design with high operational reliability

The air-driven single-stage gas booster features a well-proven design with few moving parts. This provides a long service life and low maintenance requirements, even during continuous operation.

The gas booster is equipped with three seals between the drive air and the pumped gas. The spaces between the seals are vented to the atmosphere, minimizing the risk of drive air leaking into the gas.

Gas boosters with efficient cooling

Pressure intensification generates heat, which demands efficient cooling. Single-stage gas boosters from Haskel feature built-in cooling where the exhaust drive air is directed past the gas section. This contributes to an extended service life for seals and reduces heat-related damage.

Inlet and outlet pressure

The gas boosters can handle high inlet pressures equal to the outlet pressure and are suitable for most gases. However, special gas applications, such as hydrogen or oxygen, require specific precautionary measures.
